Hampton-In-Arden Tennis Club offers a variety of structured coaching to Junior members run in concert with the school terms, usually with a break over half term weeks and other school holidays. The current junior coaching schedule is always made available via this site. All coaching is organised by our head coach, Ian Poole (left - 07968 451956) assisted by Dave Mountford (right). Junior coaching is geared towards the requirements of the LTA National Competition Framework which came into effect on 1st September, 2007
Mini-Tennis (ages 3 to 10)
Mini red tennis is an ideal and exciting way to introduce tennis to young children. At this stage we introduce movement, co-ordination, balance and reception skills as well as the (more obvious) hand-eye coordination ball hitting skills. The Mini Tennis system runs from red through orange to green, depending on age and standard of play. Children are in groups of their standard and age for coaching sessions. More on Mini-Tennis....
Junior Tennis (ages 11 & over)
Children are worked with in groups according to age and ability. These children will be working on technique and tactics from both singles and doubles play
Individual Coaching Programmes
These are for children who are keen to improve their skills and begin to play more matches. This is a very flexible arrangement tailored to the individual child. It could be as simple as doing another coaching group during the week or it could be a complete plan laid out by the Head Coach. Children as young as 6 could start one of these programmes. Please discuss your requirements with the Head Coach.
Private Lessons
A chance to get individual attention to improve different aspects of your on game. These lessons can be booked direct with the coach at your convenience. These lessons can be booked with a maximum of 3 people per lesson.
Bad weather during coaching? No problem!
We always do our best to play through all weather, but our main concern is always the safety and well-being of the children. The coaches will organise indoor activities should the children be unable to play, but please bring suitable waterproof clothing with you to all coaching sessions (and a drink!).
Competition and Match Practice
All children are actively encouraged to take part in competition at their standard. The club currently has teams taking part in local leagues at every age level. The coaching team also arrange practice sessions at each level. Warwickshire LTA run individual events at all age groups. They also run doubles initiatives such as the North (and South) Warwickshire Doubles tournaments. Please ask your coach to find out more about current events that may be of interest to you and your child
