Progressively intrdoucing competitive elements into the coaching programme is built-in to the ethos behind the Mini-Tennis scheme. Mini Red, Orange and Green competitions are graded to help you find the right tournaments for your playing standard starting with local tournaments at your club and with neighbouring clubs.
As with our coaching, we always do our best to play through all weather, but our main concern is always the safety and well-being of the children. Local club competitions continue through all seasons as long as it is safe for the children to play safely outside on the courts.
Hampton-In-Arden Tennis Club runs several internal tournaments for all levels of junior members during each season. Our head coach (Ian Poole) is trying to encourage more children to take part in competitions during each term.
The annual junior tournament has trophies for several age categories ranging from Under 12's upwards (boys and girls). These are singles titles.
In addition there are opportunities, for older juniors (16+) in particular, to take part in the various social tournaments that are organised by our coaching staff.
New for Autumn 2016, this event is a collaboration between three local tennis clubs: Hampton in Arden Tennis Club, Solihull Arden Tennis Club and Coleshill Tennis Club. The aim is to provide more competitive opportunities for our junior members.More Info »
For older juniors, you may be interested to know that we run Singles Box Leagues and some juniors, at the coaches recommendation, can be included in them if they wish. These leagues bring together players of all ages and abilities as long as they can rally on a full court.
Each league runs for two months and in that time each participant will play 6 - 8 singles matches of 12 games each. At he end of the two month period, the top two players in any league will be promoted to the next league above; the bottom two will be relegated to the league below. This ensures that you get regular changes of players to play against.
You are playing well as a junior, have done well in the annual junior tournaments and have maybe entered the box leagues (above) and done well and are looking for a fresh challenge? Our Coventry league teams (5 Mens, 3 Ladies) are always looking for new players - why not try out and enjoy some doubles play?
